One Michael Salako(40) has been arrested by men of the Ogun State police command for beating a commercial motorcyclist (popularly known as Okada) to death at the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta, the state capital.
The 40-year old suspect was arrested on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer of Lafenwa divisional headquarters, CSP Samuel Aladegoroye, that an Okada rider had been heartlessly beaten to death at Sanni Street, Lafenwa, Abeokuta.
CSP Aladegoroye thereafter mobilised his men and moved to the scene where the suspect was subsequently arrested.
When the suspect was being interrogated by the police, Salako explained that he knew the deceased in their community but he (the deceased) declined his request to take him somewhere with his motorcycle the previous day.
On that fateful day, he saw him and was trying to question him (deceased) why he refused to take him out the previous day, and a quarrel ensued between them, which eventually took his life
The deceased simply identified as Abudu, has been confirmed dead and his corpse deposited in the morgue for autopsy, as stated by the police command’s spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
