A foremost organisation, Pureheart Islamic Foundation of Nigeria, PHF has felicitated Muslims in Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-Ul-Adha celebration, urging them to eschew in totality all acts capable of undermining the nation’s existence.
A release signed by the body’s national General Secretary, Mallam Jamiu Bello, affirmed that Eid-Ul-Adha is is a celebration of the willingness of prophet Ibrāhim (Abraham) to sacrifice his only son in obedience to Allah’s command, adding that while commemorating Abraham’s submission to the will of His creator, Muslims around the world are encouraged to imbibe piety, obedience, patience, and yearning for the acceptance of the Creator which are some of the important lessons of this celebration.
The statement reads:
” The Pureheart Islamic Foundation of Nigeria (PHF), National Headquarters, heartily rejoices and extend our greetings to the Muslim community and the entire nation on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Adha, 2021.
” Eid-Ul-Adha or festival of sacrifice, is a celebration of the willingness of prophet Ibrāhim (Abraham) to sacrifice his only son in obedience to Allah’s command. In commemorating Abraham’s submission to the will of His creator, muslims around the world along with their families and friends are brought together to pray, sacrifice animals and feast. We encourage all to imbibe piety, obedience, patience, and yearning for the acceptance of the Creator which are some of the important lessons of this celebration. E
“Eid-Ul-Adha encourage us to make sacrifices and to reflect on our own lives and the ways in which we can live for the benefit of our family, community and our country.
” As you gather in your praying grounds, mosques and homes to observe this joyous event let us resolve to always demonstrate the peace, love and equality which are the inherent features of Islamic teachings. Let us continuously direct our hearts towards strengthening our society based on mutual respect, brotherly and sisterly love and universal understanding.”
To this end, Muslims are called upon to do all things possible to ensure the nation remains strong and united.
” We implore all Nigerians to refrain from all forms of tribalism, racism, Xenophobia, bigotry and their tendencies. Islam, and indeed all heavenly religions forbid them in harshest terms. No nation has benefited from such. If anything, they have brought wars and destructions to nations. Despite the despiration of some few elements to cause chaos and conflict, government must take all proactive steps to ensure that the lives and properties of law abiding citizens are protected at all times.
” We should always maintain and obey all Covid-19 protocols, and not get carried away by the relaxation of restrictions. The new Delta variant is highly transmissible and more virulent than the previous variants. We therefore implore all Nigerians to seize available opportunities to get vaccinated against COVID-19. We also advise the Government to further decentralise vaccination centres in order to bring vaccines to Nigerians doorsteps.
” Let us all sustain the battle against fake news in all sphere of our national life. It is saddening to note that most of the ethno-religious conflicts being witnessed in our country today are fuelled by deliberate rumours and outright lies, mostly via the social media.
” Government and the media practitioners have a responsibility to make adequate laws that will address this scourge without suppressing the right of citizens to criticism of actions and inactions of the government.”
