Since his emergence as the Governor of Oyo State in 2019, Engr. Seyi Makinde has never been derailed from his promises he made before the good people of the State, which is so evident for one to conclude the fact that Omituntun administration is the real “Ore Ara Ilu”.
In its agenda, Makinde led administration has set a priority on economy, security and education over other sectors, which gave birth to the continuous growth and development existing in Oyo state since 2019. But independent of its effort on security, other sectors would have been submerged.
It is the constitutional duty of the government in any country, category or level to protect the lives and properties of her nationals in and outside the State. However, the plan of an administration together with available resources determines the future and the state of the nation within the given term.
Seyi Makinde led regime has been doing tremendously well in curbing insecurity within the state. Most especially in tertiary institutions where security architecture is not at its best, the “Ore Ara Ilu” government fixed it by deploying external security agencies to make sure that the lives of the students and properties of the institution are secured.
The polytechnic, Ibadan is one of the beneficiaries in the ‘Zero-To-Violence’ mission of Seyi Makinde led government in Oyo state. The institution was formerly painted in black in terms of security, but since the intervention of the state government, it has been revived.
It could be recalled that there was an alleged violence at The Polytechnics, Ibadan which flooded the media months ago, claimed that properties of the institution were totally destroyed by hoodlums. Without wasting time, the State Government supplied D.S.S operatives, Operation Burst and Amotekun Corps, and also secured a permanent base for them within the institution. Since then security structure of the institution is as strong as a rock to the extent that if a pin is lost, it would be found.
Engr. Seyi Makinde who is also known as the ‘Man of Peace’, revealed himself to the entire students of The Polytechnic, Ibadan in the just concluded Students Union Government E-voting election which seemed to be a replica of June 12 general election. With the presence of security personnel deployed by the State Government to man the collation centre, the students conducted a free, fair and stressless election, and no life or property was affected unlike before.
As a student of the institution, the state government under Governor Seyi Makinde has done a good job for prioritising the welfare of the students and the good people of Oyo State. We really appreciate the Governor for the peaceful environment enjoying by the publics of the institution.
Hopefully, the magnanimity of the incumbent Governor will extend beyond 2023.
