My second year’s diary: Oyo Speaker

Despite the holes and blows
Life still flows without a hold
Like the first year, the second too has passed
No deep sleep, Only keeping the dreams

Phone beeps every moment
My People scold, knock and nod
Too many truths, too many opinions
Too many fighting feet on the streets
Troubles come, none goes unsolved

The SECOND YEAR as the Speaker OYHA
Story of the gall and the glory
Lots of lashes from home
Insecurity in Ibarapa hitting my brickwall so hard
The news from my LG election breaks my heart
Igangan reprisal attack scattered it
Covid-19 pandemic, Assembly’s staff- PASAN Nationwide, strike limited us

Did we make mistakes? Yes
Do we appreciate criticisms? Yes
Are we adjusting and improving? YES
Are we also doing well? Our People will decide

As the Speaker, the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly- “THE HOUSE OF INNOVATION”, I sincerely appreciate the opportunities, support and the love I’ve enjoyed so far from my colleagues who have continued to demonstrate great zeal and commitment to their Legislative and Committee functions in the last 24months, other arms of government, the great people of Oyo State, my constituency- Ibarapa East Local Government, My aides and Ever-Working Team, our great party, PDP and the Nigerian youths.

For record purpose, the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly has passed a total of 56 bills into Laws, made 83 resolutions and passed 82 motions not to mention the oversight functions of members at individual and Committee levels, aimed at improving the standard of living of our people and enhancing good governance.

There is too much concentration of power at the center. If restructuring is done, States and Local Government will have the power to effectively manage their internal security using State and Local Police. This means each State will be able to tackle headlong its security challenges.

My prayer is for the Lord to grant this administration outstanding success and preserve our lives to witness more anniversaries. Amen.
