Rotary Club of Ikoyi honours Prof. Samson Afolabi

Noble Rotarians of the Rotary Club Of Ikoyi recently rolled out the drums to honour Prof. Samson Tunde Afolabi for his extraordinary generousity towards uplifting humanity.

Rotarians under their President, Funsho Gbogboade wore ecstatic looks to Westwood Hotel, Ikoyi, venue of the award presentation in order to welcome and honour an uncommon philanthropist who has identified with the Club’s mantra of “Creating Hope in the World.”

Expressing her heartfelt appreciation, the President of the Club, Rotarian Funsho Omolara Gbogboade said the honour was not unpremeditated; it was an aftereffect of Prof. Afolabi’s donation towards the development of the club, and his moral support towards the ideals of the Club.

She said, “We really appreciate him for his passion for humanity. He is being honoured today for his massive donation towards the success of our project which include assistance to motherless babies’ home, breast screening exercise and so on.”

The President was happy for his readiness to collaborate with the Club, and for identifying with their core values.

“We are expressing our profound appreciation to Prof. Samson Afolabi for his support and donation of one Million Naira towards the projects of our Club; he has sponsored motherless babies’ home and breast cancer screening projects.

Obviously, I am seeing him for the first time. He was introduced to the Club by Rotarian Dr Olayinka Oduwaye”, Gbogboade concluded.

Prof. Afolabi who was honoured as the guest speaker of the week talked on helping young leaders build skills and learn the value of service, also established that the present crop of youths would have to redefine their value, beam their searchlight on purposeful endearvours and engage the experts in order to make life a haven for all. He pointed out that youths need to embrace attitudinal change for all-round developments.

Rotarians in attendance are Past District Governor (PDG) Kamoru Omotoso, Natasa Anyaowu, Sunny Sunday Omohwovo, and Past Presidents Nike Maiyaki, Charlse Okonkwo, Onafowope Tunde, Yomi Onanuga, Agbe Davies and Seneya John.

Others are Rotarians Osunkoya Lurlyn, Okiki Sanni, Ola Daniels and other illustrious youths.
