NEW ISLAMIC YEAR : Makinde declares Tuesday August 10, Work-free day

The executive governor of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde has declared Tuesday, 10th August 2021 as work-free in the state to commemorate and celebrate the new Islamic year 1st of Muharram (Hijrah) 1443 AH.

The declaration was contained in a circular signed by Secretary to the state Government, Mrs Oluwabamiwo Adeosun on Friday.

The circular reads:

“The executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Seyi Makinde, has declared Tuesday, 10th August, 2021 as Work-free day in the state, to commemorate and celebrate the new Islamic calendar year 1st Muharram (Hijrah) 1443AH”.

The governor enjoined all and the sundry to harness the occasion to pray for peace, unity and sustainability of the state, and Nigeria in general.

“His Excellency has also enjoined all and Sundry to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity and sustainability of the state in particular, and the country in General.” The statement added.

It would be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde in 2019 promised to declare holiday for the commemoration of new Islamic year, every year.
