Over 200 residents of Oyo have benefitted from the medical outreach programme organised by a faith-based NGO, Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria, IMAN on Saturday December 17, 2022.

News Live Nigeria reports that the free medical/surgical care featured medical services, surgeries, lab test, ophthalmic services, clinical diagnosis, investigations and treatment with a view to improve people’s wellbeing and general health.

The Oyo State Chairman of IMAN, Dr Taiwo Alatishe, said the outreach, as part of their corporate social responsibilities, was “to contribute to well being of the society through our members’ professional skills. This, in turn will be an avenue to earn rewards for good acts.”

Dr Alatishe thereafter hinted that medical services rendered included medical and eye consultation, Pharmaceutical services, laboratory investigations, nursing services, general surgery and eye surgery.

He said 36% of the 39 surgeries done were hydrocelectomy, adding also that 22 cataract surgeries were done.

“More than 200 Oyo indigenes benefitted from that array of services. 36% of the 39 surgeries done were hydrocelectomy.

Other surgeries like Herniotomy, herniorrhaphy, lumpectomy, lipoma and others were performed. 87 reading glasses were given, and 22 cataract surgeries and 6 pterygium excision were done”, he concluded.

The beneficiaries who took turns to fervently pray for the association, however pleaded for further coming to Oyo town for subsequent exercise.

They said the free medical/surgical services offered were in actual fact commendably helpful considering the harsh economic situation of the country.
