Oyo 2023: Ibadan Joint Traders Association drums support for Adelabu, says Makinde not traders-friendly

The aspiration of Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Accord party governorship candidate received a major boost on Monday as the Ibadan Joint Traders Association adopted him as their candidate for the 2023 governorship election.

The Association which is the umbrella body of all traders in Ibadan, comprising the eleven (11) LGAs made their support known while receiving Chief Adelabu as part of his on-going state-wide consultation with relevant stakeholders.

The President of the Association, Alhaji Dauda Oladepo appreciated Chief Adelabu for recognising traders as strategic stakeholders in terms of economic development and democratic processes in the State.

Alhaji Oladepo who showered encomium on the Accord candidate for finding the joint traders association worthy as an organisation that is relevant in actualizing his governorship ambition.

He promised that the Association, which cuts across the 11 local government areas in Ibadan will vote en mass for Chief Adebayo Adelabu for the support and respect shown to the Association in his developmental plan.

‘’ Governor Seyi Makinde had shown us that he is never a trader- friendly Governor hence the need to support Adelabu who has demonstrated his love for us on many occasions “, Alhaji Onaolapo said.

Stakeholders in Ibadan Joint Traders Association who pledged their unflinching support for the Accord Governorship candidate and other candidates in Oyo State include Alhaja Sariat Ojikutu Olorunero (Iyaloja of Ibadanland ) , Ogbeni Nurudeen Busari ( Vice President Joint traders Association) , Alhaja Dasola Azeez (Ikęta Iyaloja of the joint traders Association, Ibadan), Mrs Folake Mamud (Iyaloja Ibadan north West ), Iyaafin Borode ( Iyaloja Ibadan North East LG) , Hon Ibagbe ( Babaloja Ile-Tuntun Ibaden S/E ) , Mrs Alóba ( Iyaloja South West), among many others .

Chief Adebayo Adelabu in his remarks expressed his appreciation to the Association for identifying with him at this political period and for their readiness to partner and support him to move the State out of the socio-economic abysmal it has found itself.

The Accord candidate who was the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria said that he was ready to facilitate no interest loan for Traders and create an enabling environment for the growth of their business.

Adelabu urged members of the Association to collect their Permanent Voter Cards and vote for him and other Accord candidates in the 2023 election across Oyo state .

The Accord candidate who made a donation in support of the traders promised not to interfere in the process of choosing their leaders but reiterated his support through periodic engagement.

Adelabu added that his seven point agenda, ”is centered on a comprehensive development plan and good governance that will transform the State”.
