OYO tech hub free summer coding and robotic camp has churned out young technology afficionados after extensive weeks of fantastic and purposeful training.
It was such a glamorous day at the rounding off ceremony done at Oyo Tech Hub office in Oyo town on Friday where children demonstrated high level of dexterity in physical computing and internet of things.
According to the Director of Training, Oyo Tech Hub, Ibukun Atoro, kids have learnt coding which will enable them to become independent citizens in a world where technology is ubiquitous.
“We are looking into the future where kids in this part of the world will compete favourably with their counterparts in Europe, America and other parts of the globe.
They are our children. We need to give them better and right skills to guarantee a better future for them. Parents would have observed that their kids have imbibed three qualities since they started attending the clas; curiosity, love for tech and ability to think independently.
Meanwhile, our objectives include exposing the kids to the future of technology, and making sure that female children develop unquenchable love and interest in tech and science”, he concluded.
Engineer Nurudeen Faozey, the founder and who is the main financier of the project is also working with global partners like Amazon Web Services in the US and Cisco technology to introduce advanced training and more capacity building initiatives”, Atoro disclosed.
The closing ceremony witnessed Demo Sessions for Young Learners under age 11, who displayed their tech skills, using Microbit sensor to test soil moistures, and young learners under age 15 used robots to detect state of matters.
Techpreneur Atoro therefore reiterated his confidence in Engineer Nurudeen Faozey’s ability to deliver effectively if given the chance to represent Oyo Central Senatorial District under the Accord Party come 2023.
He said Faozey’s resolve to support education, social development, people who are lagging behind, widows, and economic development of Oyo town counts in his favour.
Some of the parents in attendance equally expressed their happiness. One of them, Dr Ogunkunle Temitope of AIA Hospital, Araromi, Oyo who described tthe hub as the first tech hub in Oyo state, said, he’s seen a tremendous improvement in his son’s intelligence.
In separate remarks, Mrs Badmus R I, a teacher at ADS school, Oyo, Mrs Afolabi F R from Atiba LG, Oyo and Mrs R. Moradeyo Adewale of Moradeyo Schools, Oyo expressed their feelings about the programme, applauding the organisers, particularly Engineer Nurudeen Faozey.
