Earlier today, Gov. Seyi Makinde swore in the Chairmen and Governing Councils of six tertiary institutions in Oyo State.
The institutions are Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, (Now Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic), Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, The College of Education, Lanlate, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Oke-ogun Polytechnic, Saki and The Polytechnic Ibadan.
The Governor in his address made it known that Oyo State presently has ten tertiary institutions, which one, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH) Ogbomosho is jointly owned by the government of Oyo and Osun.
He noted that some of the issues affecting tertiary institutions in Oyo State are quality assurance, effective teaching methods and efficiency.
The Governor charged the newly inaugurated board and governing council members to think out of the box in order to accelerate the development of the educational institutions in Oyo State.
He congratulated them while assuring that the state government will give the needed support in achieving this.
