Proliferation of Olóshó

Olóshó is nothing but a modified prostitute.

The slang olóshó is coined to refer to a female who gives out her body in exchange of her needs. An olóshó can be a teenager, an adult, a housewife, a widow or a divorcee. Whoever an olóshó is, in my opinion, an olóshó is nothing but a modified prostitute.

The proliferation of Olóshó, modified prostitution, is seriously alarming and calls for serious attention.

The world is not still and, as the world is developing so also the number of olosho and its notoriousness. What factors can then said to be reasons for its proliferation? There are many, I tell you, starting from home through school, the new media, the government and the society.

As charity begins at home so is what a child is; begins at home. The olóshó habit was planted and nurtured accidentally or intentionally from home. A parent who lacks moral provisions obviously has no moral to transfer to their offspring.

While some parents run away from their responsibility and neglect their children, abandoning them to survive on their own, some send their children to the street to go and hustle, not minding what they are up to in as much as the children bring money to them. Girls from such homes, in their quest to survive, often engage in the act.

In fact, from experience, not all olóshós choose to be what they are. Most of them are victims of circumstances . An institution dedicated to teaching and learning is known as school. Do you know a student can be influenced negatively as he or she can be influenced positively ?

Most girls that attend boarding schools often sneak out of school to attend night parties . Some secondary school girls at times form caucus of big girls who relate unhealthily with caucus of big boys in the neighborhood . It is not surprising that some male teachers and lecturers who are supposed to be exemplars to students turned out to be bad examples.

Some lazy students also decide to use what they have to get what they want. They jump from one person to another, giving out their bodies freely in exchange of very ridiculous sums, at times.

The new media has turned to an avenue where teenagers are exposed to different forms of sexual indecency and thus teenagers with flexible mind are easily tempted to put what is seen into practice.

The social media also serves as meeting and pick up point for olóshó. The economic situation of a rotten society has turned most girls/ladies/women to olóshó . Or, to some poverty-stricken family, their girls, coupled with environmental factors, find shelter in the obnoxious, nasty engagement called Olóshó.

Single mothers, widows or divorcees, also, for their situation, loose senses easily and resort to Olóshó.

However, there are nymphomaniacs who have excessive sexual desire. So, they have multiple sexual partners to satisfy their sexual urge. Whatever the situation, being an olóshó shouldn’t be an option because it is indeed a dirty, disgraceful and an impious act.
