The Executive Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured Nigerians that SARS officials all over the country who have been asked to leave the streets following their disbandment would be returned to the police headquarters for grilling and psychological examination.
Governor Sanwo-Olu shared this news via his twitter handle on Tuesday having returned from Abuja where he met with the inspector general of police, Mohammed Adamu earlier in the week.
He expounded that a panel which would comprise Nigerians with indefatigable characters that will look at all cases of abuse by the police around the country would be constituted, this he saw as a concrete step towards ending police brutality in the country.
The Governor who demanded the preparation of substantial queries from well-memeaning Nigerians said, “a deep look at their activities will commence and the work will be exhaustive”.
“In Lagos, we have immediately set up a trust fund that will be managed by nominated members of the public and CSOs to compensate families that have lost loved ones to police brutality”, he said gladdening the affected citizens.
