An enlightened Islamic cleric, Alhaji Daud Igiogun enlightened the generality on matchmaking and the dangers of incompatibility at the Singles and Couples Day 2021.
The event organised by Ramtaq Development Centre had Dr. Ayo Sanda Ladigbolu as its convener and was held at Starlight Event Center Unique, Oyo.
Among the discussants was Alhaji Igiogun who was also tasked to speak on the theme; Courtship, Marriage, and Parenting: A Tripod of Life.
In his presentation, Imam Igiogun pointed out that one significant standpoint in relationships that must not be toyed with is compatibility in faith but it is disheartening in today’s world that it has become a forgotten indicator.
“Matchmakers are believed to be experts in relationships, they would have known the weaknesses of both individuals that want to engage in relationships,” the cleric stated buttressing the importance of “Alarina” in a successful union.
He however blamed the neglect of the enviable style on uncontrolled exposure, the structure of University education, social media, and the fall of grand norms in our society.
Though he did exercise caution that every matchmaker must be mature, experienced, trustworthy, and be respected in society, he was quite confident that if matchmaking is handled with experience and expertise, it will always remain the best.
More importantly, Imam Igiogun adduced that Islam has nothing against matchmaking as Prophet Muhammad was matchmade with his first wife Khadijah which turned out to be the best marital relationship the prophet ever had in his lifetime.
At the end of the presentation, Imam Igiogun made his audience know that successful marriage is predetermined by successful premarital relationships and that that the better every family, the better the society we live in.
