The Lord of the world is serenaded after His names are invoked against Satan; the accursed and his sons! We seek His aid and mercy on our life. May His aid and mercy abide with us forever in the service of His deen, Al-Islam, and may His teachings and that of His beloved Prophet Muhammad ( salla-llahu alehi wasalam) suffice us till eternity!

Three days ago, precisely the 5th of October, countries all over the world celebrated teachers who had impacted the nations’ lives and who are still making life easier to live through their teachings, pedagogical acumen and toiling!

Allah, the creator of everything is the great grand master in teaching profession, in my estimation! For He Has taught the progenitor of man, Adam, names of everything in the time when the angels were fearing that the creation of Adam and his children would cause commotion and disturb the orders of the universe due to their limited knowledge of God’s mind and ways of doing things!

They had even advised the creator that the creation of Adam and his children would be anathema to order of things as noted above and for this they questioningly advised Him ‘ will you create therein ( on earth) who would spoil therein things and still spill blood and we are constantly in your service exalting and praising you?’ . To which Allah replied them in the Quranic language that ‘ I know what you know not!’

Through knowledge Adam was elevated above the angels despite the fact of creation which had them created from the Light before the creation of Adam while Adam was made from sand afterwards ! Not done,Allah also commanded all the angels and Satan who was living with them as one of the Allah’s beloved to pay obeisance to him!

When all the angels obeyed Allah’s commandment and gave honour to Adam by prostrating for him , Satan on the order hand, felt pompous and disregarded Allah’s words and he was accursed! From that time, the angels were made to be nearer to God, Adam was serenaded higher and Satan was accursed and made himself a glaring enemy of man!

In the same vein, the prophets of Allah are the grand masters when it comes to teaching the words of blessing, encouraging and warning him as the teachers after them are the masters of the world and words, for they teach the nations what will benefit them without discrimination from what are understood from the prophets’ teachings.

It is on this that prophet Muhammad( salla-llahu alehi wasalam) had asserted the prayers of every blessed things in the creation on teachers who teach the world righteous deeds and beneficial things! He says in one of his golden statements as follows :
” Indeed, Allah and His angels,and all the people of the heavens and the earths including birds in the heaven and fish in the sea, will be praying for teacher who teaches humankind righteous things!”

It is on this serenading plane that the King of poets in Arabic language had beautifully advised everybody who has passed through teachers to stand up for them and pay them their due respects for many positives things they had brought to his life. Ahmad Shaowki sings thus :

” Stand up for teachers and pay them their due respects/ for teachers narrowly missed being prophets”

”Exalted is Your Lord; the best of the teachers/ Who taught the divine pen in the first era”

The standing up for our teachers is both literal and metaphorical! We are to bow our heads and minds for them by being kind to them in our dealings and words. When we are fortunate in life to assume positions of authority and our teachers are in need of our services, we must be lenient to them and made the services comfortable for them.

And when our teachers are not in services again, when they had retired ,we must make sure we create for them an enabling environment that we aid the enjoyment of their retirement. For examples, their pensions must be paid to them as at when due so that they enjoy the rewards of their labour earnestly.

Health wise, the teachers need to be taken good care of at the twilight of their serving years. For those in governments among their students, health services which can promote the health and hygienic systems of the teachers and their lives should be provided!

The wrong notion that the rewards of teachers are in the heaven must be changed! Their rewards should be of this world and that world. It should not be limited to heavens in the hands of their creator alone. Those of us that they had benefited must strive to benefit them back also!

It is a trite that you must treat your teachers kindly;they are the reasons you are what you are today!
How many of us see reasons in praying for our teachers, if at all we cannot afford materials gifts in appreciation of what they had done for us?! It is not good that we are both niggardly in offering good services to our teachers as well as good prayers!

Another way of celebrating your teachers for the good they had offered you whenever you remember them is to pay courtesy visits to them ! The elderly people to note, love seeing their products of their exertions! They like knowing that what their youth had wrought are doing fine and when you pay them courtesy visits they appreciate them and reward you with their good prayers, which most times come to be as they have prayed them!

The teachers here are not limited to the western and Arabic educations alone but they cut across those whom we have learnt trading, carpentry, bricklaying, painting and other artistic works from!

When you pray for your teachers or give them a material gift or you pay them courtesy visits, you are investing in the future and definitely when there is harvesting, you will have cause to thanking God!

Have you also known that the height a nation will reach is determined by how good her government is to the teachers!.You can look at the life of our teachers and their conditions now and reflect on the height this nation has reached!

The reason why this nation is politically, scientifically, socially and religiously backward, is borne out of the negative and inhuman treatment her government is meted out against the teachers! When our teachers are ceased being treated like a pariah , our conditions as a nation will be redeemed ,for the redemption of the life of the teachers lies in the redemption of their nations!

Again, look at how teachers have been treated in your states of origin!. Most governments in Nigeria, to say the obvious, see them as objects of derision, jest and play!They are the only people whose salaries are regularly denied, held or probed after probes before the pittances are finally given to them!

And in celebrating our teachers too, we must celebrate the first teacher of humanity who is the MOTHER!. Yes mother is the first teacher a child will encounter when he is born. She is the first book a child reads and if she is brilliant, most times, the child is brilliant.

And when the first school is adverse and negative, most times, the child is adverse and negative!.

Friends here, treat your mother well and kindly too while you remember she had carried your pregnancy in toiling upon toiling, and she had given birth and weaned you with toiling upon toiling!.

Our mothers deserve kind words, beautiful attires, healthy foods and all that are good treatments a child can offer his mother!.Remember the words of God in the Quran:
“And we have enjoined on man to be good to his parents:
In travail upon travail
Did his mother bear him
And in two years was his weaning;
Hear the command:
” Show gratitude to me and to your parents:
To me and is your final returns
