Tambuwal loses commissioner for home affairs

Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, on Friday announced the death of his Commissioner for Home Affairs, Alhaji Abdulkadir Jeli-Abubakar.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Malam Muhammad Bello, said Jeli-Abubakar died on Thursday at 64 after a protracted illness.

Tambuwal described the deceased’s death as a great loss to the state and the nation at large.

He prayed that God will grant his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss. The deceased has since been buried according to Islamic rites, NAN reports.

Before his death, Jeli-Abubakar who was the son of the late Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar III, and younger brother to the present Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar was a former counselor of the Sultanate Council in Sokoto.

He is survived by two wives, many children and grand children.
