BREAKING: Crisis looms in LAUTECH over alleged purchase of 300 million naira cars by the management

Staff of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso are bracing up for another round of ‘crisis’ over alleged purchase of cars worth over 300 million naira for the institution’s management and council members.

A source told News Live Nigeria that the council chairman who turned down the offer of a car collected the sum of 55 million naira for the car allowance, instead.

It will be recalled that last year, the joint ownership of the institution between Oyo and Osun states was resolved, leaving the Ogbomoso campus in the sole care of Oyo.

Meanwhile, part of the promises made by the Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde was to pay the 13 months salary owed by the two owners; Oyo and Osun states.

” Recently, about 3 months ago, the state government created single account for the schools which means they can’t buy anything except authorised by the state government. Is it the state government now mismanaging money or the management?”, the source queried.

Strike may commence tomorrow Thursday 15 July, 2021. LAUTECH students’ education will be jeopardised as the ongoing examination may be halted in the face of staff protests and resultant strike action.
