Residents of Jakusko town, the headquarters of Jakusko local government area of Yobe state are languishing in total neglect over what is described as Mailami’s unfulfilled promise of social amenities.
They alleged that the Maimala’s government has abandoned the town to wallow in total neglect.
” Jakusko town, the headquarters of Jakusko local government of Yobe state is one of the most neglected towns in Yobe state in terms provision of social amenities.
” Jakusko, the second largest in terms of land mass, having the population of about 329, 083 can not boast of good road networks since its creation in 1991, 30 years ago depsite promises from successive administrations”.
One resident of the area who spoke with our correspondent said, it is disheartening to know that despite humongous amount received in allocation, Jakusko remains deficit in infrastructural development.
He said, ” the council is receiving, unabated, monthly amount of federal allocation. The headquarter is the number one in terms of infrastructure deficit”.
He noted that, ” it is very disappointing that the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, state House of Assembly member, Hon Yau USMAN Dachia from Zabudum Dachia ward, commissioner for information, Hon. ABDULLAH Bego from Jaba, APC party chairman, Alhaji Adamu Lamido, commissioner for agriculture, Hon. Mairo Amshi and the chairman of local government, Hon. Abdullah Gwayo are all from here.
” With these personalities in government, our local government is still bereft of quality leadership and good representation. It is either some are squandering public funds, or projects are being diverted to another areas. This happens at the expense of our development.
They however urged governor Maimala Buni led government to fulfill their promise to embark on massive road construction and ensure unprecedented development in the area.
