In The Service Of The Book Of Allah | Dr Adekunle Mikail

All praise and glorification to you our Lord, the revealer of the Book, its protector and facilitator of its claims!

May the rewards that are due to the teachers and followers of the Book of Allah be multiplied and endear to the noble prophet Muhammad(salawatu-llahi alehi), upon whom the Qur’an was revealed for teaching, worshipping, dissemination and adaptation to various aspects of human endeavors!

O you the servants of Allah, be tarry not in the fulfilment of the responsibilities allotted to you,especially, the one around the glorious book of Allah, the Qur’an!.

Or is there any job given to you after the belief in the oneness of the Lord of the worlds that supersedes the services in the upliftment of the Book of Allah?

Or have we a saying more sublime and edifying than the Book of Allah? Or do we have a congregation more beneficial than the one congregated for the purpose of reading, teaching, learning and pondering al-Qur’an?

No, the obvious thing is that, services around the Book of Allah are the most beneficial, rewarding and germane ,out of all the services human being engaged in this life,for the simple reason that its rewards are not temporal alone but transcendental up to the hereafter!

I vow with the exalted name of our Creator, Allah, this life will not be pleasant without the Book of Allah while there is no success, whether in this passing life, or in the enduring hereafter, without holding on to its rope! We read in its reference as follows:

“He who follows my guidance will be stray not or be unfortunate”.

The Book of Allah, al-Qur’an, is the most truth-telling and trustworthy of all sayings. It is the most honoured of all the revealed books as its letters remained the same from close to two thousands years of its revelation

It is without any blemishes, whether in terms of redaction as done to the Bible by the German Bible scholars , distortions as occasioned by the Roman powers whose handiworks replaced the true Christians rites and manners of worship with the Romans ways and rites, or reversion as done to the old testament!

The preeminence of the Quran over all other heavenly revealed Books, is therefore ,like the preeminence of Allah ,the creator of all things over His creatures !

This is a manifest Book, both in its meanings, readings and letters! Besides, the one that strive to learn it, are the best among the mankind! The hadith of its prophet has also leant credence to this fact as follows:

” The best of you(mankind) is the one that learns the Quran and teaches others”!

The reading or recitation of this Book is all, honourable and brings nothing to its reciters except, honour and unnamed rewards! For example, the one that are deeper in the arts of reading it are rewarded as those that are coming up gradually in its reading, whose recitation is still at the kindergarten level.

In truth, the adept in its recitation will be with the pure and blessed angels on the Day of judgement while the one that are stuttering in its reading we have two rewards:the reward of reading and that of learning, as contains in this hadith:

” The Adept with the reading of the glorious will be with the honoured blessed Angels while the one reading it and stutter with it will have two rewards!”

He who takes the recitation of the Book of Allah as an habit will accumulate a reward nobody has accumulated except those that walk the same way with him.

And as the prophet has asserted,:” He who reads a letter in the Book of Allah ,will have his reward, and his reward will be in ten folds”

Brethren, this your Book is a powerful one! It will come on the Day of resurrection as an intercessor to the one that read it too often when alive!

This is stated thus in the hadith:
” Be reading ( too often) the Qur’an,for it will come as an intercessor for its reader on the day of judgement”

Not only this, the Quran has come as an honour, blessing, grace and mercy to the Muslims. We read in the Quran thus:

” We have indeed revealed a Book which contains your remembrance, to you, will you ever ponder it”

In the same vein, the knowledgeable about the Quran will be the most jealousy of men on the Day of judgement for the fact that they will be granted the permission to read the Quran, as they had read it when alive, in the presence of their Lord ,the angels, the prophets and the entire humanity and the Jinn!

O you brothers and sisters in faith, the men and women before you had realized the important of the glorious Quran and they had strived in its service, worked for its recitation, compilation, explanation , as well as patient in the dissemination of its messages,across lands and seas!

But where are you in the great services rendered to the goodness of the Book of the Lord of the Seven heavens and the earths ,these days?.

Your mosques now are filled to the brim for those that are there to charge their electronics and gadgets but not for those who want to learn, read and teach the Book of progress, al-Quran!

Most of the parents who enrolled their wards in the Madrasah do not deem it fit to pay the teachers that teach their wards the etiquettes of living this hard life and principles that can give them the hereafter but can pay thousands and millions to buy the knowledge of this life alone , forgetting that ” the most honourable thing to collect salary or to pay wages on is the book of Allah!” according to an Hadith of the glorious Qur’an.

Brethren, it is better, as noted by the scholars of jurisprudence that “he who cannot do all the things must try to do a part ” We need to strive to do our part in the service of the Quran by learning, reciting, teaching,researching and institutionalising foundations in support of the Book of Allah, al-Quran!

Among The Three Efforts That Will Know No Liquidation ( Loss) Is The Reading Of The Qur’an!

Virtually all human efforts can come to Liquidation and liquidation can come to them! They may occasion this due to the nature of these efforts on the one hands and due to the disposition of the owners of the efforts on the other hands!

Time may also happen to these efforts and rendered them obsolete, disused and antiquated! But as nondurable as human efforts are, there are some of them which had been made to outlive their owners as there are others which loss can never come in contact with !

These human efforts no matter the shortness and longetivity of the owners’ lives, will continue to be relevant to them nonstop until the day of judgement. Most times too, the Lord of the universe, through his magnanimity, revitalize the lives of those the owners of these efforts left behind on Earth especially their children and friends!

This is what had happened over the decrepit wall which Khidir had wanted to build with prophet Musa which harboured the treasure of a pious dead father which he had intentioned for his children who were still underage!

Khidir had wanted to build this ruined wall so that the property of this righteous father would not be exposed when the wall was allowed to fall when the ones that would inherit it were not of age in continuation of the good efforts the father had put up when alive ! This is aptly captured by Allah in Qur’an 18:82, as follows :

” As for the wall, it belonged to two youths, who are orphans, in the Town; there was beneath it, a buried treasure, to which they were entitled ;their father had been a righteous man: so your Lord desired that they should attain their age of full strength and get out their treasure _ a mercy and favour from your Lord .”

These three efforts that will know no loss at every time and period of life have also been aptly described in another verse of the Qur’an as follows :

” Surely they who recite the Book of Allah and keep up prayer and spend out of what we have given them secretly and openly, hope for a gain which will not perish” _Qur’an 35:29

Therefore the three efforts of man that will never know no loss, decay or death are ; recitation of the glorious Qur’an, regularly keeping up and observing the daily canonical prayers and the voluntary ones , and spending out of one’s wealth
