LEAMSP Retreat: Professor Gabadeen says heralding new beginning, the silver ​bullet

A university don, Wasiu Olugbenga Gabadeen, an associate professor of Educational Management from the Faculty of Education, University of Abuja has said, for League of Muslim School Proprietors, LEAMSP, to maintain its value systems, a new beginning must be heralded.

The professor said this in his presentation at the 2-day retreat, held at Al-Haq (The Real) Children School, Boluwaji, Ibadan. The retreat which had as its theme, ” Taking LEAMSP to the Next Level”, was meant to appreciate the need for the association to be effective and efficient in service delivery, highlight discuss and promote ethical practices in line with LEAMPS’ value system, enhance members’ personal, interpersonal and managerial skills, and unravel the pros and cons of professionalism with the view to articulating the importance of professional competencies.

Other spotlights of the programme are to develop robust strategic plans that will herald the new beginning in the sector, entrenching viable management and managerial structures, and strenghening organisational effectiveness.

Professor Gabadeen said, “professionalism requires people contracted to a particular job do it proficiently, put clients first, maintain confidentiality, and avoid fraudulent practices in discharging their occupational responsibilities”.

He also mapped out that professional competencies cut across the capacity to solve problems, enthusiasm, and commitment, as well as mastery of theoretical knowledge among others.

The don thus illustrated that management’s tricycle has planning and collaborative effort which he said will enhance the front wheel, delivery.

He ideated that every organization will only flourish if the 7 Cs namely; Compliance, Character, Comfort, Communication, Cognizance, Commitment, and most important, Completion, are upheld.

In his presentation, the educationist proved beyond doubts that managerial effectiveness could only come to fruition through the tactical use of personal, interpersonal, and managerial skills.

” Critical thinking, stress management remain strengths of personal skills, conflict resolution and valuing differences are weapons of interpersonal skill while quality leadership, team management, strategic planning, motivation and hiring quality employees and many more are the arms that should be at one’s arsenal to hone one’s managerial skill”.

He, however, charged all stakeholders to begin to review, redesign and reinvigorate the vision, mission, and strategic plans of the association so as to reposition the association to the enviable height it ought to be.

News Live Nigeria gathered that after the official recognition of LEAMSP as a major stakeholder in the education sector by the Oyo state ministry of education this year, it has continued to walk the talk of collaborating with the government at all levels in the provision of quality education to the school children in the state.
