Oyo deputy governor has not been impeached – PDP PRO

The Publicity Secretary of Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engineer Akeem Olatunji has debunked the news that the deputy governor of Oyo state, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan has been impeached.

He said Engineer Olaniyan, remains the deputy governor of the state though impeachable offences have been thrown against him, and the impeachment is gaining momentum.

“Engr Rauf Olaniyan is the Deputy Governor of Oyo State. He was only alleged of impeachable offences and he has been given a fair hearing to defend himself of all the allegations against him within the next 7 days as stipulated by the Nigerian Constitution.

As for Oyo State PDP, we are following the event in the Oyo State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt Hon Ogundoyin Adebo with keen interest and we believe in their fairness, impartiality and patriotic seal”, he concluded.

News Live Nigeria recalls that Seyi Makinde and Rauf Olaniyan were sworn in as the Governor and Deputy Governor of the state, respectively at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-Ado in Ibadan on 29th May, 2019.

Mr Makinde, flanked by his wife, Omini, and their children, took the oath of office at 12.17 p.m, while Mr Olaniyan took his earlier at 11.57 a.m.
