Women have been advised to take their health seriously by visiting the hospital regularly once they clock age 40 and above.
This strong adjuration was contained in the health talk given by the matron and CEO, Oloyin Hospital, Alhaja Sofiyat Abdulrazaq Oloyin at the Al-Muminaat’s 1443 Annual Shawwal Get Together held yesterday at the TMC Dawah Centre, Bamgbose street, Owode, Oyo, Oyo state.

PROCEEDING
The event began with an opening prayer by Hajia Maryam Abdulazeez while Rashidat Abdulkareem, Fatimah Busayri and Waliyat Abdulkareem took turns of Quran recitation in Arabic, English and Yoruba languages.
In his welcome address, the chairperson of the occasion, Alhaja Alim R.O emphasized the importance of communal relationship to our daily lives and development.
“It is important we behave well with our neighbors, regardless of religion tribe, or culture”, She said strongly.
She further chided the ugly trend of today’s world where Muslim children commit more social vices than their counterparts from other religions. She warned mothers and guardians to be vigilant and straighten the psyche of their wards irrespective of gender.
Taking the attentive audience through the topic “Keeping our Minds Together as we did during Ramadan”, the lecturer Alhaja Fatimah Al-Ameen Durowoju identified three types of human minds:
“Nafsul Lawwamah responsible for guilt and accountability, Nafsul Mutmainnah which is responsible for piety and righteousness and Nafsul Ammaarah that takes charge of evil and greed”, she scholarly enthused.
She did forewarn the Muslim ummah and the generality of the public not to allow the third mind, that is meant for evil and greed to override their lives and the way they live it.
Similarly, Alhaja Sofiyat Abdulrazaq Oloyin when giving a health talk on the ailments that befall women when they clock 40 years old/ above and how to control them, singled out that every woman needs to wait for a year before concluding she has entered menopause.
“As women, when we reach certain age we should prepare our minds for some changes in our system. We may begin to experience mood swings, body weakness, low sexual strength, body vitamin reduction and cancer”, she expertly enlisted.
Other unwanted body changes the medical practitioner intimated women to prepare for include heart diseases, gynecological infection, kidney stones, and depression among others.
Combatting these menaces, Alhaja Oloyin proffered that women need to be as close to the hospital as their nails are close to their fingers and kill any dream of pregnancy as soon as they reach 40 years.
“Women should take care of themselves the same way they take care of their husbands and children. We need to avoid self-medication, do regular checkup, and cervical screening at least once in three years.”
Though the medical practitioner charged women to eat good food regularly, she advised that the food should be in line with the United Nations regulations. She also added that enough rest, and quality exercise can help every woman overcome the inactions arising from old age.
The question and answer session truly lived up to its billing. It divided opinions and thoughts as panelists gave scholastic responses to the thought-baked inquisitions.
The chief of those were the questions centered around the weight of sins and their forgiveness alongside interaction amongst fellow women which the discussants take turns in giving their views.
“Every woman has a bit of madness”
“Take all sins as major and you won’t commit any”, some of the panelists noted.
The event was not devoid of interlude and side attraction as food and drinks were shared, donations were collected with flair and camaraderie, and drama with the theme ‘Children, Mobile Phones and distraction to their Worship’ was also staged.
Mrs Mufliat Azeez , the secretary Women’s Wing of Anwarul Islam Movement of Nigeria appreciated the organizers and felt that this year’s gathering by Al Muminat was worthy the while. She also told this reporter that she would be looking forward to the next year’s edition.
Also, commenting on this year’s organization and overall management, Alhaja Mutiat Lateef, Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) Oyo zone’s secretary, charged every woman present at the gathering to not hold on to the precious knowledge gained but to disseminate it across board and translate into actions that would positively influence their daily lives and attract more women in subsequent get-togethers.
