The Muslim Congress, TMC, Oyo State Chapter, has held its Annual Congress and awards of excellence have been presented to eminent Muslim personalities.
The former Waali (State Coordinator) of the organization, Alhaji (Pharm.) Zaynul Abideen Adedayo Ganiyu, ZAAG, urged every Muslim to live a life worthy of emulation and leave behind them an exemplary legacy.
He said this while presenting a posthumous award of “Pioneer of Excellence” to the late Professor Abdul Hakeem Ishola Mobolaji at the Annual State Congress of the organization.
The Congress was held on Sunday 30th October, 2022 at TMC Dawah Centre, Ologuneru, Ibadan, Oyo State.
While presenting the award to the first son of the late professor, Mr AbdulAzeez AbdulHakeem Mobolaji amidst tears, Pharmacist Ganiyu said the late Professor worked selflessly in promoting Islam in Nigeria.
“During his life time, Professor Mobolaji paddled the administration of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Oyo State Area Unit, almost like a one-man cabinet. He was also the pioneer Waali (Coordinator) of The Muslim Congress, Oyo State. As an attestation to his groundbreaking achievement in Oyo State, he was later appointed Waali (Coordinator) of The Muslim Congress, Osun State.
Abdul Hakeem Mobolaji worked effortlessly in setting the modus operandi of Islamic banking and finance system in Nigeria, a template adopted for Al-Barka Micro-Finance Bank”, he added.
Pharmacist Ganiyu then enjoined Muslims nationwide to take after the erudite professor who despite his high-profile credentials and social status, remained incorruptible amidst temptations, and sustained his godliness, hospitality, tolerance, humility and piety till he died in a ghastly auto-crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Express Way on 20th September, 2015.
During the annual assessment programme, Pharmacist Zaynul Abideen Ganiyu reiterated the need for Muslims to set achievable goals and have clear visions in their mundane and religious lives. He maintained that vision, probity and teamwork were essential for individual and organizational achievement.
“If any of the trio is missing, such an individual or organization will fall short in having a landmark achievement in his or her endeavour”, he concluded.
Earlier in his welcome address, the incumbent Waali (Coordinator) of TMC, Oyo State chapter, Alh. (Engr) Daud Oladosu urged Muslims to brace their weaknesses, capitalize on their strengths, identify and leverage abounding opportunities in the society with a view to giving Islam a sound footing.
Other eminent awardees at the programme were As-shaykh (Dr) Abbass Zakariyah, Alhaji Muhammad Jamiu Makanjuola, Alhaji Lukman Akinyemi Mr. Maruf Kehinde Oladejo, Mr. AbdulMu’meen Busayri and Alhaji (Pharm.) Abideen Adedayo Ganiyu.
