In an effort to rally the support of all stakeholders towards building an enviable University, the Vice Chancellor, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, Professor Olanrewaju Ademola Olaniyan has led the University Management team on a familiarization visit to the Basorun of Oyo, High Chief Yusuf Akinade Ayoola; Alago of Ago-Oja, Oba AbdulGaniyu Busari Ajiboye and the Oyo Police Area Commander who was represented by his 2ic, Elijah Adekanye.
According to a release made available by the Special Assistant on Media Matters to the Vice Chancellor, ‘Wale Adeoye, the Vice Chancellor, who touched down at Bashorun of Oyo’s palace at 11:05a.m was received by the Bashorun of Oyo and some eminent High Chiefs in the Oyomesi. In his address, the renowned economist states, “I am here today to pay homage to you my fathers. I count it as a courtesy to come here with my team to familiarize with you all.
Since my appointment by His Excellency, Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE, I have not hesitated looking forward to coming down for royal blessings. I thank our amiable Governor and congratulate all Oyo indigenes on this upgrade. However, for the University to become an enviable one, it is going to be a joint task. I hereby besiege your blessings while passionately calling for collaboration.”
Responding, the Basorun of Oyo, High Chief Yusuf Akinade Ayoola commended the Vice Chancellor for his thoughtfulness. “I welcome you on behalf of the Oyomesis and every Oyo indigene. Your coming for royal blessings speak volume. It shows your request for collaboration. I therefore assure you that Oyo shall back you up. I pray God Almighty work with you and lead you aright. Thank you and God bless you and your team”, submitted the High Chief.
In continuation of his visits, the University Chief Executive later proceeded to the palace of Alago of Ago-Oja, Oba AbdulGaniyu Busari Ajiboye where he was warmly received by Kabiyesi and his chiefs.
“Our coming down is to familiarize ourselves with you. Our intention is simply to create an atmosphere where our newly upgraded university can thrive and become known in the global community. We cannot do it alone. We need you our fathers and we need our community. It is premised on this that we have come for your blessings”, the Vice Chancellor stated.
The Alago of Ago-Oja who could not hold his joy appreciated the Vice Chancellor for the honour. “History is being made today as we receive you and your team. Permit me to put on record that the land on which Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo situates is owned by the Ago-Oja family.
Therefore, we are delighted that our vision for releasing the land then has become a thing of history today. Be assured of our support and collaboration where necessary. On behalf of my chiefs and subjects, I pray that you shall succeed and end well. Thank you and have a safe trip”, submitted the Alago.
The familiarization visit later took the University team to the Area Command of the Nigeria Police, Durbar where the Vice Chancellor was received by the 2ic, Elijah Adekanye on behalf of the Area Commander. The University Chief Executive seeked collaboration from the police in the area of security.
According to him, “I have been briefed on the support our institution is enjoying from the police over time. I am particularly happy that it was a positive collaboration and I plead this is sustained and built upon. On our part, we shall be ready to give our needed support. Please convey our appreciation to the Area Commander. Thank you.”
The Area Commander 2ic, Elijah Adekanye thanked the Vice Chancellor for the visit. He reiterate that Durbar Police Command will always be ready to partner with the University on security matters.
“Oyo is peaceful and your institution is peaceful too. We assure you of our support in securing lives and properties while our doors are opened to the authority and students of the institution at all times”.
