Human rights body visits Ife Correctional centre, raises inmates’ hopes

The Ta’awunu Human Rights Institute- Nigeria paid a visit to the Nigerian Correctional centre Ile Ife, as part of her charitable outreach to inmates in Correctional Centres in Nigeria.

Addressing inmates having being warmly received by the officer in-charge, Ife Correctional Centre, Ile Ife, after a Jumuat prayer, the Director of Public Prosecution Ta’awunu Human Rights Institute- Nigeria, Barr. I. A Kamorudeen, speaking on behalf of the Chairman Barr. Sulaymon A. Tadese, urged inmates to always keep hope alive and that prison is never a permanent place, as there are more rainy days ahead.

The institute as well noted however, that prisoner on bail whose bail conditions are affordable shall be subsequently looked into as soon as the ongoing Judiciary strike action is called off.

Expressing their gratitude,  inmates appreciate efforts of the Ta’awunu Human Rights Institute in remembering and making donations to support their wellbeing and that there is need to make this year’s Eid-il-Fitir colourful and fantastic for them in the prison as well.

Items ranging from, clothes, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Pam Sandals, Soap both (Laundry and bathing) some loaves of bread, carton of noodles etc were distributed to inmates.
