National leader of All Progressives Congress and former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu paid a condolence visit to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum in Maiduguri on Monday calling for a change of strategy by the Nigerian military towards tackling insurgency and banditry.
The former governor was of the opinion that the insecurity of the country is no longer conventional warfare, so, there is a need for a much tactical and crude measure.
Reacting to the perilous activities of the Boko Haram terrorist, he said “We have been on this for some time, We have seen the reaction of the federal government, we have seen the reaction of the armed forces, therefore, in this kind of situation what we do is to replan our strategy”.
GovernorTinubu expressed his joy and euphoria over the Borno state governor’s life who has been attacked more than once in an effort to eliminate him; he prayed that Allah continue to protect him.
The party kinsman, who believed that governance is rather shallow in an insurgency—hit state, wanted Borno state people to see the visit as that for solidarity and commitment from Asiwaju himself in a bid to collectively defeat all evildoers.
“We saw people who have endured so much agony, denial, brutality decided to run to their farms to develop means of livelihood not only for themselves but for all of us, in the end, they were slaughtered. That’s not religion, it is not in our religion (Islam), it is not in Christianity either, it is an act of wickedness”, he said with grief.
