Jolly in Oyo as Alaafin Marks 82nd Birthday

The Palace of Alaafin of Oyo was in bright spark as the Alaafin of Oyo, His Royal Majesty, oba Dr Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III celebrated his 82nd birthday.

The ceremony which had the Oloris, Princes and Princesses, high and titler chiefs and the indefatigable sons and daughters of Oyo town attendance featured prayers from the three “established religious leaders in the town; the chief imam of Oyoland Alhaji Mas’ud AbdulGaniy Ajokidero, representatives from the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN and the heads of Asa Orisa communities, the celebrant cutting of the cake.

Speaking at the event, the chief imam of Oyoland Alhaji Mas’ud AbdulGaniy Ajokidero appreciated God in the life of the articulate king and prayed he lives longer till at least he clocks 150 years and even more.

Pastor A. Oluwatobi who prayed in the Christian way related the king’s life to that of David in the Bible, Psalm 88 verses 3-5. He, alongside other ministers of God, prayed God guard the king and all Oyo people against pestilence, danger and terror.

The cutting of the cake was anchored by the chief Imam, a Christian leader and ASA Orisa head.

Notable attendees at the event were representatives from Bishop Sam Zuga foundation, prince Akinpelu Bakare and his entourage from Oko, ambassador Fowler Gomis from Portugal, Barrister Wakeel Oyedemi, Prince Akeem Adeyemi, Skimeh, and a host of others.

The programme was anchored by Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu.
