ORO’ DEITY: Agbowo traders close early, vacate shops

Residents and Traders in Agbowo Community, Ibadan, Oyo state shut down their businesses earlier than expected on Friday, as information about deployment of ‘ORO’ deity by some people in the community to tackle lingering insecurities spread fast amongst residents and traders.

The Traders were seen locking their shops around 4.50pm in the evening on Friday.

When contacted, the Baale of Agbowo Community, dispelled the rumor and maintained that, nothing of such could occur in the community.

Some of the traders, mostly woman, who spoke to NL correspondent stated that, the information about deployment of ORO deity, started gathering momentum in the afternoon when some men were seen addressing large gathering within the community.

“I don’t want to see any ‘Oro’. Either true or fake, I don’t want to see it”, Mrs Amina, a food stuff seller stated.

The Oyo state Police Public Relation Officer, couldn’t be reach as at the time of filing this report.

It’s a known fact in Yoruba land, that females must not be sighted by an ‘ORO’ Deity.

It would be recalled that, armed robbers have consistently raided the community, carted away values while injuring many in the process.

‘Oro’ deity is a traditional and primitive ways of security lives and properties in Yoruba land.
